It seems fitting that as I played my first match for the club, I should also therefore write my first match report.
The journey to Banbury was fine, M40 all clear (but closed on way back unfortunately) . Cherwell Edge easy to find. My playing partners from Hoebridge and Huntswood were charming and we had a great time playing the two courses. Conditions were good, the fairways were green and the greens fast. And it didn’t rain. I had been feeling a bit trepidatious representing the club for the first time but didn’t need to at all. If any member has been considering putting themselves forward who has never played a match against another club, I would encourage them to have a go. It’s really not that scary!
So, to the results. Sally won the gross score Prize, and also the net but you can’t win both, so the net went to another player.
ELGC Team A, consisting of Sally, Edmee and Suzanne were Runners up, to the winners Huntswood. They each received an attractive square glass trophy.
I think this information is also correct (if not, I mis-heard or misunderstood what Mo told me) : Team B of Sandra Cook, Mo and me, came 11th out of 13 teams in the gross, but 5th in the net competition.
Thanks to Mandy for organising us (and looking me straight in the eye at the roll up lessons on a Monday and asking me if I was free on Sunday the 27th of July – I couldn’t lie to Mandy, so that is how I ended up saying yes!) and a special well done to Edmee who was a star golfer two days running.
