Together with the USGA, The R&A governs the sport of golf worldwide, operating in separate jurisdictions whiles sharing a commitment to a single code for the Rules of Golf, Rules of Amateur Status and Equipment Standards. The R&A, through R&A Rules Ltd, governs worldwide, outside of the United States and Mexico, with the consent of 152 organisations from amateur and professional golf, and on behalf of over 30 million golfers in 140 countries. The R&A Rules Department also incorporates an Equipment Standard division. Through rigorous state-of-the-art testing, a team of scientists assess new developments in golf technology, as well as ensuring that new club and ball submissions from golf manufacturers conform to the Rules of the sport.

England Golf is the governing body for amateur golf in England. It is one of the country’s largest sports governing bodies and looks after the interests of more than 1,900 golf clubs and 675,000 men, women, boy and girl club members.

BB&O

The Berks Bucks & Oxon Union of Golf Clubs was founded in 1924 and exists to represent golfers in the County and to promote the game of Golf. The BB&O is the effective link with England Golf which amongst its responsibilities includes overseeing the integrity of the World Handicapping System.

NAPGC

The NAPGC organises over 30 events for golfers of all ages, abilities and handicaps at individual, club and national level. The wide range of competitions has enabled the Association to maintain continuous growth as more clubs and members recognise the competitive and social benefits of membership. The NAPGC is constantly evolving and seeking to organise new competitions for its members. The United Kingdom Public Golf Courses Championships were established in 1996 with entry open to public and proprietary clubs throughout the UK. The finals are played every year at St Andrews, the “home of golf”.
